Still GHOPing

I’ve been doing GHOP tasks for the Gnome Online Desktop. My most recent task was to code an email stock for Bigboard. There’s a snapshot at the bottom of the post.

I’m about to begin working on a new app soon to edit and “remix” fdo iconsets. It’ll be the Linux equivalent of CandyBar. If you’re interested in helping out, leave a comment or just ping me on irc.

Awn-Terminal 0.4

For those of you that haven’t been following on the Awn forums, I wrote Awn Terminal, my first applet for Awn, last week.

I’ve put in some more work (and spent some time wondering whether its even possible to come up with a more unintuitive system than gconf), and version 0.4 is now done.

Instead of listing all of the new features, I’ll just throw in a few screenshots.

WordPress Plugin

Sorry about the lack of updates. I’m working on a plugin for WordPress. The plugin’s purpose is to confuse email harvesters (computer programs that crawl along the internet looking for emails to spam) and to prevent them from collecting any emails. I’m going to attempt that using several methods that I don’t think anyone else is using. I’m going to enter the plugin in the Weblog Tools Collection plugin contest, and hopefully I’ll win some money. I need an icon for the plugin. If anyone is willing to design one for me (full credit will be given to you) then please just leave a comment below.

Screensavers

UPDATE: Thanks to some advice by doomlaser, I’ve fixed the problem with the screensaver. You can download the new version from the link at the bottom of the page.

Check out this screensaver. If you look at it in System Preferences it looks harmless enough. But when you actually run it, it shows a (fake) kernel panic.

This gave me the idea to make a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) screensaver. I’m sure that someone has already made one (if you know of a BSOD screensaver then tell me in the comments), but I decided to make it anyways just so I know how to, in case I ever want to make another screensaver.

Anyways, I made the screensaver myself. It was simple enough to make. I used Quartz Composer to make it (see this and this if you want to make your own screensaver with Quartz Composer).

To install, just download this file and put it in ~/library/Screen Savers.

HTML 101

This is a tutorial on basic HTML. HTML is a markup language (a markup language is similar to a programming language) that is mainly used to create websites. It is also used to make widgets for Mac OSX. This tutorial is the first part of a series on how to make widgets. Eventually, I’m going to even explain how I made my Chuck Norris widget. You may also be interested in reading this tutorial if you use Windows or Linux, because HTML is used on every website that exists today. All of the screenshots are taken on a Mac, but it shouldn’t be too hard for Windows and Linux users to figure out what to do.
