The Chuck Norris Widget And A Few Other Important Announcements
The Chuck Norris widget version 4.0 is done. You can download it from the widgets page. As always, you can leave your own facts in the comments and they’ll go into the next version of the widget.

I’ve also finally changed the design of the games page to match the rest of this website. I haven’t added any games lately, because it just got too boring to do. For a while, I had someone else who was adding new games for me, but they also got bored of doing it. I’m going to add a few games every now and then, so it may be worth checking back every once in a while.
I know that I said that I was writing a tutorial on how to make widgets a few months ago. I apologize that I never got it done. I got distracted with other things, and didn’t have the time. I will eventually do it, but until then feel free to look through the widgets code yourself. I even cleaned up and commented a lot of the code. If you want to edit it, then feel free to do so. But if you’re going to distribute your own widget that is based on mine, you have to tell me.
Anyways, what are you waiting for? Go and download it already!
Chuck Norris Widget 4.0
I’m just about ready to release the latest version of my Chuck Norris widget for Mac OS X. I’m waiting until Sunday to release it, because I still have one or two small things to take care of. The last version of the widget was download around 12,000 times. With the last version, my server stayed up and running smoothly the entire time. With a little bit of luck, I’ll be able to survive the flood of visitors this time also.
Sometime soon, I’m going to change the design of the games page to match the design of the rest of the website. I’m also planning on making another widget or two, as well as a wordpress plugin to prevent email spam. I’ll post more information about that during the week. Anyways, I just realized that the Chuck Norris game on this website has been played 11449 times. If you haven’t played it yet, then head over to the games page and give it a try.
Chuck Norris Widget 4.0
Its almost ready. You can download the beta here. It looks pretty much the same as the previous version, but here’s a screenshot anyways…
Here’s a list of the changes:
Cleaned up the code: If any of you want to learn how to make a widget, the code is now much cleaner and easier to read.
Added several new facts and removed some duplicate facts.
Changed all the references to frozenflamestudios.com (my old website) to theesylum.com. This was necessary to make sure that the widget can continue to check for updates
Added the option to turn off the request for donations.
Various bug fixes.
I know that none of these are major changes, and the next version will have more significant changes. I think that I’ve managed to put all the new facts into the widget. If I left out anyone’s fact then please tell me. As always, you can submit facts in the comments.
Chuck Norris Widget Feature Request
I’m going to begin working on the next version of the Chuck Norris widget soon. Its going to obviously have lots of new facts (assuming that people give me new facts to put in) and it’ll give you the option of disabling the “Please Donate” notice. I’m out of ideas for other features, so right now thats it. If you have any other ideas tell me and I’ll try to add them.
As I mentioned earlier, I’m going to write a tutorial on making widgets. I’m going to try to make it really simple so that even a complete beginner to programming can understand it. The tutorial is going to be split into several parts. I’ll probably write the first part sometime next week, so stay tuned in. You can always subscribe to my rss feed if you don’t feel like checking for updates the old fashioned way. If you have no idea what rss is you might want to read this.
